Injuries in cricket are common but no one wants injuries which can cause someone’s death.
But the game is uncertain and we have no choice but to face the reality. There were many players in cricket who lost their life on field.
Below is the list of cricketers who lost their life on the field.
1. Andy Ducat
On 23 July 1942 England’s player Andy Ducat lost his life due to heart failure. In a match at London, England, United Kingdom.
2. Abdul Aziz
On 17 January 1959 Pakistan’s player Abdul Aziz lost his life due to a ball which struck over his heart in a match at Karachi Pakistan.
3. Michael Ainsworth
On 28 August 1978 England’s player Michael Ainsworth lost his life suddenly, he collapsed in between ground and when found was dead. Incident took place at Hillingdon, London, England.
4. Wilf Slack
On 15 January 1989 England’s batsman Wilf Slack lost his life while batting. He collapsed in between match and when found was dead. Incident took place at Banjul, Gambia.
5. Ian Folley
On 30 August 1993 England’s player Ian Folley lost his life due to heart attack while being treated in hospital for eye injury which he got on field. He lost his life at Whitehaven, Cumbria, England.
6. Raman Lamba
On 20 February 1998 India’s player Raman Lamba lost his life on filed when he was doing fielding on short leg when ball struck on his head. He lost his life at Dhaka, Bangladesh.
7. Wasim Raja
On 26 August 2006 Pakistan’s player Wasim Raja lost his life due to heart attack. In a match at Marlow, Buckinghamshire, England.
8. Darryn Randall
On 27 October 2013 South African player Darryn Randall lost his life when a ball hit his head while doing fielding in a match at Alice, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
9. Phillip Hughes
On 27 November 2014 Australian opening batsman Phillip Hughes lost his life while batting. A bouncer ball hits backside of his neck and he collapsed on the field after battling in hospital he lost his life. The incident took place at Sydney, Australia.
10. Raymond van Schoor
On 20 November 2015 Namibia’s player Raymond van Schoor lost his life on field due to stroke in a match at Windhoek, Namibia.
