Cameron Green is a young Australian cricketer who has shown great potential in his short career so far. Born on 3rd June 1999, Green is a talented all-rounder who can bat, bowl and field well.

He hails from Perth and made his debut for Western Australia in the 2016-17 season of the Sheffield Shield at the age of just 17.

Career Overview

Green made an immediate impact in his debut season. He scored 197 runs in just three matches at an impressive average of 39.40.

He also picked up four wickets with his right-arm medium-fast bowling. This performance earned him a place in the Australian Under-19 team that played in the 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in New Zealand.

Green continued to impress in domestic cricket and was included in the Perth Scorchers squad for the 2018-19 Big Bash League.

He made his T20 debut against the Melbourne Renegades and scored an unbeaten 33 off just 19 balls. He also picked up a wicket in that match and was named the Man of the Match.

Green’s performances in the Sheffield Shield continued to improve and he scored his maiden century in the competition in the 2019-20 season.

He finished the season with 699 runs at an average of 63.54 and also picked up 27 wickets with his bowling. These performances earned him a call-up to the Australian squad for the ODI series against India in January 2020.

Unfortunately, Green suffered a stress fracture in his back during the ODI series and had to undergo surgery.

Cameron Green was out of action for several months but made a successful comeback in the 2020-21 season of the Sheffield Shield. He scored another century and finished the season with 363 runs at an average of 72.60. He also picked up 9 wickets with his bowling.

Test Cricket

The now 23-years-old impressive performances in domestic cricket earned him a place in the Australian squad for the Test series against India in December 2020.

He made his debut in the second Test of the series and scored 45 runs in the first innings. He also picked up his maiden Test wicket in the match. Green impressed everyone with his composure and technique and was praised by his teammates and opponents alike.

Green continued to play in the Test series against India. He also featured in the Test series against South Africa in February 2021.

Cameron scored his maiden Test half-century in the second Test against India and finished the series with 236 runs at an average of 47.20. He also picked up four wickets with his bowling.

Green’s performances in Test cricket have earned him a lot of praise and he is seen as a future star of Australian cricket. He has shown great potential with both bat and ball and his fielding is also top-notch.

IPL Career

In 2023 IPL season, Cameron Green was signed by Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Kieron Pollard for 17.53 crores. He became one of the most expensive players in IPL 2023 auction after Sam Curran (18 crores).
