IPL 2023 is now at its final stage. Gujarat titans is the first team to have qualified in the playoffs. As of now, Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow super Giants are in the race to qualify. As of May 19, 2023, the 2023 playoffs qualification scenario is as follows:
. Gujarat Titans have already qualified for the playoffs and occupy the top spot with 18 points from 13 matches.
. Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow super Giants are second and third respectively with 15 points each.
. Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) moved to the fourth position in the IPL 2023 points table with 14 points from 13 matches after securing a win over Sunrisers Hydrabad (SRH) on May 19, 2023.
. Rajasthan Royals (RR) have played 13 matches and have 12 points with a net run rate of +0.140. They can only reach a maximum of 14 points, and Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants are already ahead of them. In such a case, RR will need to beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last game and will need Mumbai Indians (MI) and RCB to lose their last league stage match.

. Punjab Kings (PBKS) have played 12 matches and have 10 points with a net run rate of -0.120. They need to win their last league match against RR on May 19, 2023, to stay in contention for the playoffs.
. Mumbai Indians (MI) have played 12 matches and have 10 points with a net run rate of -0.150. Even if MI beat SRH on May 22, their playoff spot will not be locked. MI need a win against SRH, and then they will have to hope either CSK, LSG or RCB lose their last league stage match. If MI lose, they will likely be eliminated from the tournament.
. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have played 12 matches and have eight points with a net run rate of -0.250. They are still mathematically alive in the race but need to win their remaining two matches against LSG and MI and hope that other results go in their favour.
To qualify for the playoffs, a team must finish in the top four of the points table. If two or more teams have the same number of points, the team with a better net run rate will be placed higher on the table.
